THE PASTOR'S GARDEN

Gardens are where a wonderful variety of plants grow abundantly and new seed is nurtured to become all it can be. Scripture remind us that "My word will not go forth void but will accomplish that for which it is purposed!" Stop and pause awhile and enjoy the sunshine of the Word in our Pastor's garden! You will be blessed.

Love bears all things,
Believes all things,
Hopes all things,
Endures all things.

1Corinthians 13:7

Dear Christian Friends,

We know that spring has been a long time coming, and some of us may be asking, “When are the gray skies and the rain going to cease and the sky burst forth with the warmth of sunshine?  And how long will we have to wait for the earth to break forth in full bloom with the spring flowers?”  I know the old saying, “April showers bring forth May flowers.”  But enough is enough!  I ask, “Is there not a word that you have for us Lord that will lift our spirits and, remind us of you love for us?”

Let me share with you a favorite passage from the Holy Scriptures:

               My lover spoke and said to me,
                         “Arise, my darling,
my beautiful one,
                                        and come with me.
               See!  The winter is past;
                         the rains are over and gone.
               Flowers appear on the earth;
                         the season of singing has come,
                                        the cooing of the doves is heard in our land.
               The fig tree forms its early fruit;
                         the blossoming vines spread their fragrance.
               Arise, come, my darling;
                         my beautiful one,
                                        come with me.”

                                                                       Song of Songs 2:10-13 (OT)

     This passage is taken from “The Song of Songs” and is an expression that literally means “The Greatest Song.”  It has been regarded as the greatest wedding song ever written.  The author is believed to be King Solomon. He is the bridegroom (the lover) who wrote a series of poem between himself and his bride.

     Song of Songs prefigures a NT theme on the subject of marriage and love.  But many others see this book as a prophetic allegory describing the love relationship between God and Israel, or between Christ and the church, his bride. There are numerous passages in the NT that describes the quality of Christ’s love that he has for his bride, the church.  It is an “exclusive, committed, and intensely personal love that allows for no other courtships.”

     I believe that Christ is calling his bride, the beloved to come apart from that which keeps her from experiencing an intimate loving relationship with him.  I keep hearing in my spirit these words, “Come away my beloved.”  Christ wants us to spend time with him.  He wants to reveal to us the depth of God’s love for us and heal the wounds and the brokenness in our lives and set us free from everything that has kept us from experiencing the healing power of Jesus Christ’s love.  Take a few moments and read the passage in the NT that Paul, the Apostle wrote on the depth and transforming power of God’s love for each of us.  (Ephesians 3:4-21)

     Yes, “The winter is past; the rains are over and gone…. Arise, come, my darling; my beautiful one, come with me.”
