PUMC BOOK GROUP INVITES YOU TO TURN A NEW PAGE IN 2023
It’s New Years Resolution time, folks! If you’ve been thinking that reading more in the new year would be a good thing to do, let PUMC Book Group help you out! Join us, as we make our way through a monthly read and then gather to chat about the book and other related connections to the book – think the historical setting, or related social justice issues, or a movie adaptation critique or the character development, or, or …. the possibilities are endless!
Our group meets in person or via ZOOM on the third Monday of the month at 1:30 PM. We try to meet in person at the church, but a ZOOM link is always possible for those wishing to remain at home and still make the discussion.
The reads for the next couple months are:
January
meeting on January 16th
These Granite Islands – Sara Stonich

Chasing Eden – Howard Mansfield

February
meeting on February 20th
The Daughter of Doctor Moreau – Silvia Moreno-Garcia

If you have interest in joining the group, talk with Susan Lindquist, Ellen Derby, Ann Hampson, or Christine Robidoux or email Susan Lindquist. She can get you into the email loop and help you, if you have trouble finding the monthly book choice.
Keep calm and keep reading!
HOLIDAY STROLL SILENT AUCTION RESULTS
Many thanks to all who placed bids on this year’s Holiday Stroll Quilt Auction. The quilt went to Brian Blanchard of Hillsborough, who had a high bid of $200. He intends to gift it to a dear friend whose home has been very chilly because of the high fuel prices constricting her use of oil. A good gift, I say! It made its way to him on December 23rd – folded and tied up with a bow and the care instructions pinned to it! Another year, another quilt! If anyone would like to work on the 2023 quilt auction, just contact the church office!

FOOD PANTRY DONATIONS
Our church continues to gather food donations for area food pantries. If you haven’t had a chance to donate lately, there’s always a new start in the new year! Our next donations will be delivered to the Rindge Food Pantry at the end of January. Please consider dropping a can, box, or package each week as you come into church. We also collect donations in the food bin at the base of the side ramp at the church.
Many hands make for a nice variety of foods to supplement the shelves of the area food challenged.
The folks at the food pantries are ALWAYS so appreciative of our church’s donation! Thanks and God bless!
Everyone is invited to contribute to the newsletter! Send in your photos, thank yous, birthdays, events, testimonials, poems, letters, printable artwork, prayer submissions…
Please submit all materials for the next newsletter (January) to our editors by the LAST TUESDAY, January 31. This is the newsletter that will be released Sunday, February 5 and cover until Sunday, March 5. Send to the office at 603-924-4294 or email info@peterboroughumc.org, with the subject “Newsletter submission.” Thanks!
Want to subscribe? You can email or call the office (above) to get a print copy of the newsletter, or visit http://bit.ly/subscribepumc to get it in your email.
