Secretary Welcome Melissa French, our new church secretary!
PRAYER SHAWL MINISTRY The prayer shawl group meets at the church the first Tuesday of the month. We have plenty of yarn to choose from, and willing hands to help you get started. We knit or crochet from 1:00- approximately 2:00. All are welcome!
FINANCE COMMITTEE NEEDS MONEY COUNTERS The finance committee needs volunteers to be trained to count the money collection on Sundays. The job requires counting and record in the money and depositing it at the GFA bank. Time required is about 30 minutes after church. We would like to be able to rotate this responsibility. Please contact Ken Schultz or Carol Owen if you are willing to be trained.
Hundred Nights Tailgate Supper Update – April 16th! Susan Lindquist will be organizing the next tailgate dinner for folks at Hundred Nights Drop-In Center. Look for a sign-up sheet in the fellowship room mid-March. The next dinner is on April 16th at 5 PM in Keene. April’s menu will be Veggies and Dip, Shepherd’s Pie, Green Salad, Cornbread Muffins, Coconut Cake and Coffee/Tea. If you’ve got a great recipe for the Shepherd’s Pie or Coconut Cake, think about making a batch to donate to the dinner! News From the Sunday School Rooms In anticipation of Easter, Sunday school time has been spent learning a bit about the ministry of Jesus. The kids have been talking about the teaching parables that Jesus told, as he spoke to the disciples and his followers. Thus far, we have talked about the parables of the Good Samaritan, the prodigal son, and the talents. As we read them and discuss, we are drawing illustrations for a small booklet that will help us remember the parables and let us tell the stories to those kids who miss a Sunday here and there. Springtime is just around the corner, so the kids are doing a little fun activity to bring cheer to some of the area’s shut-in folks. Making play dough and cutting silk flowers, the kids will construct small tray top nosegays to cheer up folks who receive Meals-on-Wheels lunches. We hope they like the colorful bouquets! As Easter gets closer, we will be dying eggs and making some Easter baskets for families in need of some Easter fun. One exciting thing the kids are working on making a bigger contribution to church service on the first Sunday of each month! Yup! They’re singing their hearts out! Be ready for their debut soon!
PUMC Book Group Our book group is growing and we are excited about that! We’ve had three new folks decide to jump into the circle of readers. The next discussion will be held on Wednesday, March 16th. This month’s book is C.S. Lewis’s The Great Divorce. Fantasy and theology meet on a strange bus ride with a cast of characters that reflect a portrait of mankind. If you’re curious about this book, join us! Ask around for the members of the group and we’ll get you hooked up with a book and the details! The more, the merrier!
Open Mic Night PUMC hosted another successful open mic on February 19. In addition to several of our regular performers, the audience was regaled by a new musician, Mike, who performed some of his original songs. Everyone especially liked the song concerning some new ideas for Christmas shopping (you had to be there !). Why not join in the fun and support this outreach project? We would love to have more members in the audience. Open Mic at PUMC is held the 3rd Friday of the month, beginning at 7 PM
