PRAYER CORNER
Lord, give me strength to overcome the temptation
to please myself and live life without You.
Help me to discover Your will for my life.
In Jesus’ name and for His sake, amen.

FROM THE SHELF
March…….Our library has several choices of books for young children.

Among them are: The Story of Jonah by Alice Davidson, I can Talk with God by Carolyn Wolcott, Beatrice’s Goat by Page McBrier (A Heifer Project Story), Chicken Soup for Little Souls and The Goodness Gorillas. There is also a 12 volume set called Children’s Bible Stories and a 5 volume set of The Greatest Adventure, including Joshua and the Battle of Jericho, David and Goliath , Daniel in the Lion’s Den and Simon and Delilah.

The only book we have for young adults is Joshua by Joseph Girzone. This book was reviewed before but is very suitable for young people as well as adults. Joshua moves into a small cabin on the edge of town. People are very curious about him, sometimes mystified and sometimes confused by the things he does. He is a wood carver but some of the things that happen because of him are mystical and spiritual. Based on an accurate reading of scriptures, Joshua is a deeply inspiring book.

If you have any Christian stories and are looking for a new home for them, especially books for older children and teens, please feel free to donate them to our church library. Just bring them in and put them on the shelf under the sign Children’s Books. Thank you.

AMAZON SMILE
We have a new (or rather update), painless way for you to support our church. If you shop online using Amazon we would like to make you aware of a program called Amazon Smile. Amazon Smile is the same Amazon you may have used in the past. It is the same products, same prices, same service. The only difference is, using Amazon Smile, a donation of 0.5% of the price of your eligible AmazonSmile purchases are made to our church.
In order the participate in this program you need to do 2 things. First, you must have an Amazon account and second, instead of using the regular amazon web page you would use the smile web page at http://smile.amazon.com. The first time you use this link the system will ask you to select the charity of your choice. Just remember to select Peterborough United Methodist Church.
That’s it! As long as you remember to use the smile.amazon.com web page for your purchases, a donation is made to PUMC.
There is more information on the Amazon webpage concerning this program, but if you have more questions, see Hiel.

WHAT IS UMCOR ?
The Methodist Committee on Relief was created by the Methodist Church in 1940 in response to refugee needs arising from World War II. What began as a temporary relief program became a permanent part of The United Methodist Church in 1972. Today, UMCOR supports work in more than 80 countries, UMCOR’s work includes programs and projects in disaster response, health, sustainable agriculture, food security, relief supplies, and more. Visit the UMCOR page for more information (www.umcor.org).
From the spring board meeting, UMCOR announced over $46 million in grants in support of disaster relief and recovery, global health projects, and sustainable development. Donations from our church (plus the health kits that we assemble), contributed to this effort. We will be collecting a special offering in September in support of UMCOR. However, you are always welcome to donate to UMCOR by placing an offering in an envelope in the offering plate. If you wish the offering to go towards a special project, indicate that on the envelop and we will insure that if goes to the correct place.
Thanks for your past support and God Bless
