INTRODUCING ONLINE FELLOWSHIP HOUR!
We are going to bring back one of the congregation’s favorite things, fellowship hour (without the cookies)!
Please join our hosts Susan Lindquist and Justine Gaskamp this Sunday May 3 at 1pm for online fellowship with the PUMC church family.
The meeting is scheduled for one hour. Come for a short while or stay as long as you’d like.

Susan is sending along a short reading for you… never let it be said that the Lord’s word is not rich in imagery and promise! Psalm 133.
Also, we’re thinking our opening chat might take the form of sharing with each other the most enjoyable meal with family that we had during the week. Food, right? Food has been a pretty important distraction during these crazy COVID-19 days!
Bring your joys and concerns, bring your most inspirational moment from the past week, bring any community needs you’ve seen or people you know might need someone to check on them.
Zoom meeting ending in 8974.
All are welcome! If you know someone who would like to join us just let the church office know.
If you lose this info contact the church office or Susan Lindquist, it won’t be posted online.
Please don’t share the meeting info online (email to friends is ok).

SPECIAL OFFERING FOR EASTER
We raised $565 for Shelter from the Storm with our special offering on Easter!

MAIL FOR KEN SCHULTZ
We can send Ken mail. It may take a little longer to get to him. They hold it for at least 24 hours in case the paper has had contact with the virus. It would be good for him to get mail.

C S LEWIS BOOK STUDY
Fantasy, Imagination, and Faith: A introduction to the Chronicles of Narnia by CS Lewis
Led by Laura Constantine

CS Lewis once said that when he was a boy he read fairy tales in secret, but when he turned 50 he read them in public – and got much more out of them! Have you read “The Chronicles of Narnia” – as a child our as an adult? Or tried to struggle through them and just didn’t get it? Maybe this is a good time to try again. I worked at The Center for the Study of C.S. Lewis and Friends at Taylor University for over 10 years and learned to love the fantasy works of Lewis and Tolkien in particular. I’d love to discuss them with you!

This six-week study will focus on one book from the Narnia stories, “The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe” and some excerpts from other Narnia Chronicles as we look at the role of Fantasy and imagination in Christian faith. Lewis said “Sometimes a fairy story says best what’s to be said.” What do you think?

We’ll be conducting this study on Wednesdays at 10:00 am (beginning May 6) and we’ll be using Zoom, the meeting ending in 8556.

If you’re interested in the study, please email info@peterboroughumc.org to sign up.

SUNDAY SCHOOL UPDATE
We so miss our Sunday School friends! We are continuing to send out the “Sunday School To Go” packets with mini lessons and activities inside. We covered Palm Sunday, Easter, The Road to Emmaus, the Ascension and heading into May we are going to try to include ways to incorporate spring, nature and maybe some experiments to try at home! (And Mother’s Day!) Slide shows containing similar lessons and craft ideas are also being posted to the website for families to access if they wish. Phone calls to the children and their families continue. They are being encouraged to send in photos, videos, messages, and joys and concerns to the church to be included in the service. We hope everyone is staying healthy and keeping their spirits up!

HABITAT FOR HUMANITY PROJECT CHALLENGE
Hello brothers and sisters;
As I mentioned in church we have selected a partner family and also broke ground on our home build in Keene!
I wanted to throw out a challenge to see if this was something we wanted to take on… The plans for the home include a back deck measuring about 12’ x 13’ but this is not currently in the budget. I thought it would be a good project for PUMC to tackle, both in raising the money (estimated to be about $1000 but it may not need a full railing once the elevation is determined, and we have some donated Trex decking already) and in actually building the deck (this should only take one or two days to build). Greg Robidoux is President of the Peterborough Rotary Club and they too have been wanting to participate, so maybe we could team up for both the fundraising and nail banging?
What do you say?!

THANK YOU FROM MATS
MATS has sent a thank you for the Easter baskets:
Dear Members of the Peterborough United Methodist Church –
Thank you for providing the children at MATS with Easter bags. In this period of worry and upheaval, it was wonderful for the kids to be able to enjoy Easter treats!
Wishing you all safety and health.
Sincerely,
Mary Loftis (MATS Board member)

A DAILY PRAYER FOR THE COVID-19 CRISIS
During these challenging days when we cannot be together, Bishop Devadhar and members of the Extended Cabinet will write a daily prayer based on the Revised Common Lectionary to be sent via email to our e news subscribers. They are also posted on the website. You are invited to use these in worship or in your own devotions.
Find these daily prayers here: http://neumc-email.brtapp.com/archivearea/382

SUNDAY SCHOOL TO GO PACKS
We are now offering To Go Packs for Sunday School, with printable activities for the kids https://bit.ly/sundayschooltogo

PUMC BOOK GROUP
The next book discussion for the PUMC Book Group will be held on Tuesday, May 26th @ 1 PM. The group will be discussing A Well-Behaved Woman – A Novel of the Vanderbilts by Therese Anne Fowler. The story follows the marriage of Alva Smith to William K. Vanderbilt, Cornelius’ grandson and the older brother of George W. Vanderbilt II (of Biltmore House renown). Alva comes to the marriage from a bankrupted Southern family and must make her way in the rarefied air of high society. She does it in spades.
All are welcome! If you would like to join the discussion, just let the church know at info@peterboroughumc.org. Leave an email address for contact info and then expect an email reminder of the book group meeting a week before. Books can be ordered through on-line bookstores, downloaded through the public library or the NH State library, accessed through Kindle downloads, or ordered through Toadstool Bookstores for curbside pickup at the store.
So, in this time of COVID craziness, keep calm and read on!

WORLD’S CHILDREN – ARUN SPONSORSHIP
We received a letter from Arun (see attached). We also received a letter from World Children which explained that all the children that have relatives (Arun is included), have been sent home due to the coronavirus. India is currently in complete lockdown and no one is permitted to be outside. They expect there will be needed funds to support the health fund and more information will be supplied when it becomes available.
We will conduct a fund raiser for Arun in June, so watch for details.
