Pastor Jeffrey Hipp began serving at Peterborough UMC in July 2025. He is a certified candidate for ordination in the United Methodist Church and is currently pursuing his Master of Divinity at Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary.
Rooted in the Wesleyan tradition, Jeffrey believes God uses the ordinary—bread, water, a loving hand, a shared table—as means of extraordinary grace. Opening ourselves to this grace transforms us, individually and socially. Christianity must be relational, justice-seeking, and oriented toward those who are poor, marginalized, and broken-hearted. He believes deeply that communion can be transformative, that Christ presides, and that his table is open to all who seek his grace, without exception.
Jeffrey has the joy of being appointed by the Bishop to serve Peterborough UMC, the same congregation where he was previously a member and served for three years as lay leader. Prior to becoming a United Methodist, Jeffrey was active in the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers), serving as communications director for the New England Yearly Meeting of Friends. He is originally from San Antonio, Texas. earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Texas at Austin and has called New England home for more than two decades.
He and his wife Jessica have two children, as well as a German Shepherd and a Mini Lop rabbit. Jeffrey enjoys hiking, cheering on the Bruins and Red Sox, and has just started learning to bake bread.
He is always glad to share a cup of coffee or a conversation about life, faith, and the Spirit’s work in unexpected places.
