UPDATED COVID PROTOCOLS AT PUMC
Dear Friends,
During the course of this pandemic, the re-opening committee has been working to provide a way to worship together and also take care of each other. We continue to strive to love our neighbor as ourselves by taking steps to make our gatherings as safe as we can. The best things we can all do are to stay up-to-date with our Covid-19 vaccine and to follow the guidance of the CDC.
The Re-opening committee met Tuesday 3/1 and discussed the current state of the pandemic and the new guidance from the CDC.
We decided that masks will no longer be required in the church building or at services. People who are not vaccinated yet or who have personal health concerns may still decide to wear masks and we extend a gracious welcome to all.
The children will now join us in the sanctuary for the opening of the worship service and the children’s sermon before going to Sunday School. While our Covid Community Level is considered Medium by the CDC’s measurement, we will ask that congregants mask while singing in the worship service. When we get to Low we will not have to mask while singing. Hot beverages will be served during Fellowship time after the service.
We are so happy that some restrictions have been lifted! We will be watching our Covid Community Level each week and we will be adjusting our behavior accordingly so that we can continue to take care of each other. One important thing each of us can do is to be aware of our own and our children’s health. If you have symptoms – fever, cough – get tested and please consider wearing a mask to church to prevent asymptomatic transmission of the virus. If you’ve had close contact with someone who tested positive, please wear a mask at church even if you have no symptoms. These are simple yet highly effective ways to help ensure that we’ll stay in the Medium or Low Covid Community Level – we don’t want to go back to High!

PUMC FOOD OFFERING MINISTRY
The folks at the Jaffrey Food Pantry welcomed our donation with open arms! They are VERY appreciative of the variety of goods that we offer, but also ALSO they really love receiving the gift cards. Those cards help purchase SNAP ineligible supplies and meats and dairy goods! Whoever has been donating the gift cards, you have hit it out of the park for the pantry folks! Thank you so much!
The March donations will be delivered to The Helping Hand Food Pantry in Troy. This is such an important ministry for our church, especially now that food prices have risen so sharply. Thanks so much everyone for remembering the folks who are food insecure!
Proverbs 22:9 – “Whoever has a bountiful eye will be blessed, for he shares his bread with the poor.”

A MESSAGE FROM BISHOP DEVADHAR
Beloved in Christ:
I greet you in the precious name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, during these troubled times of war in Ukraine.
May I offer this prayer:
Gracious and loving God, we come before you with our hearts rent apart by senseless war between Russia and Ukraine. We cry out to you to bring a cessation of hostilities. We remember the words of the psalmist,
“The Lord is in his holy temple; the Lord’s throne is in heaven. His eyes behold, his gaze examines humankind. The Lord tests the righteous and the wicked, and his soul hates the lover of violence” (Psalm 11:4-5, NRSV).
We join a worldwide chorus of Christians who deplore the Russian invasion of Ukraine. We pray urgently for diplomacy and peace. We pray especially for those fleeing for their lives as refugees to other countries. May your grace and peace be with the children and all those whose lives are being uprooted. In Christ’s name we pray, Amen.
Please pray for our fellow United Methodists in the region, particularly Bishops Eduard Khegay (of both Russia and Ukraine), Patrick Streiff, Christian Alsted, and all church leaders and pastors in Russia, Ukraine, and neighboring nations as they lead their parishioners in these difficult moments and days.
May you consider giving generously to UMCOR https://umcmission.org/tag/russia-ukraine/, which has already sent $60,000 to install bomb film in windows of one hospital and 16 schools in Ukraine. More help will be needed for refugees and others affected by war.
In Christ’s love,
Bishop Sudarshana Devadhar
