WELCOME PASTOR THOM
We welcome our new pastor, Pastor Thom!
June 19 will be Pastor Todd’s last Sunday with us. Pastor Thom will begin work with us and preach his first Sunday on July 3.
Hello Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
My name is Pastor Thomas (Thom) Demers, and I am originally from Mansfield, MA. I graduated from Mansfield High School in 1984 and graduated from local licensing school in 2009. I am a bi-vocational pastor as my full-time secular position is a purchasing/shipping manager for a green company. I currently live in Marlborough, NH, and I work from home on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. However, I still commute to Canton, MA on Tuesdays, and Thursdays for my position.
Before I became a local Pastor, I was extremely active in the churches I attended. I served in various committees and was the Sunday School Superintendent for many years. I was also a Certified Lay speaker and had the opportunity to be one of the lay representatives for Annual Conference. My first appointment following local licensing school was in Norton, MA at Chartley United Methodist Church. I served their congregation for ten years. While at Chartley, the church saw growth in both spirit and attendance. Chartley continues to be involved in their community by chartering one of the local Boy Scout Troops. They also share the church’s space with the local Cub and Girl Scouts throughout the week. My second appointment was at First United Methodist Church in North Attleboro, MA. I served their congregation for three years. During this time, we were faced with many trials and challenges. However, faith, prayer, and grace gave us the strength to overcome those obstacles. First continues to be active supporters of their community by sharing their building with many organizations, such as AA, NA, and Habitat for Humanity.
I am blessed to have a loving family with my wife, two children, two dogs, and bird. My wife and supporter in the ministry is Terry (Theresa). My daughter’s name is Ashley, and she has her Doctorate in Physical Therapy. She currently lives in Alabama with her fiancé, Michael Tomanelli, and they plan to get married this upcoming October. My son’s name is Jacob, and he is the assistant manager of a supermarket chain, and still lives in Massachusetts with his significant other. Terry and I lived in Mansfield, MA most of our lives, and we recently moved to New Hampshire this past year. Our dogs, Blue and Autumn, and bird, Rebel, are adjusting nicely to our new home.
Preaching and sharing the word of God is one of my greatest passions. I enjoy working with the church’s youth members by getting them involved in the life of the church. I am a firm believer in missions, ministries, and outreach programs into the community. I look forward to meeting all of you and beginning this new journey of hope and discovery.
Blessings,
Pastor Thom

YARD SALE 2022 IS IN THE BOOKS!
Well folks, we did it! Thanks to a hardy group of volunteers, a host of awesome donations, a fast rush on Richard Clason’s gorgeous chair restorations, and blissfully sunny weather PUMC ended Saturday with $1525 in the cash boxes. With a few more donations coming in from folks who shopped on Sunday, the church may add a bit more to this year’s yard sale total.
The yard sale team thanks everyone who dropped such great donations off at the church. Shoppers really appreciated how clean and neat everything looked when it was displayed. Thanks also to Linda Wallenstein for her inspired stop at The Melamine Cup in Jaffrey after the sale. Because of her inquiry, the unsold glass and miscellaneous items were picked up on Monday morning and transferred to Jaffrey for the Lions Club Flea Market that will be coming up. Another big thank you goes out to Ron and Priscilla Crowe for taking in hand the remaining rummage clothing to be donated to an area clothes cupboard. Extra books and blankets also were donated. Very little went to waste … and that is a good thing!
