UMCOR SUNDAY – Sep 11
On UMCOR Sunday, we partner with other UMC congregations in a special offering to support the United Methodist Committee on Relief, an organization that acts on our behalf when there is a crisis. When we give to specific Advance projects, 100% of our gifts are directed to the
designated response.
The funds we receive on the 11th will join with those of millions of other United Methodists to help cover the costs of doing business. From Haiti to Afghanistan, Louisiana to Bosnia and Herzegovina, UMCOR works to meet people’s daily needs such as health care, food, hygiene and job security.
UMCOR equips local churches, annual conferences and nonprofit organizations to be in mission with their communities, to respond to those left most vulnerable during this challenging time.
In 2020 United Methodists, through UMCOR:
• assisted nearly 325,000 survivors of climate and humanitarian disasters in 52 countries,
• funded 133 UMCOR disaster response projects totaling more than $8 million, and
• trained 1,755 individuals in effective disaster ministry.
How to give: Write a check to Peterborough United Methodist Church and write “UMCOR Sunday” in the memo line. To give online or set up monthly giving, go to UMC.org/SSGive.
