Please note the newsletter submissions are due November 29 and if you’ll still be vegged out on turkey leftover sandwiches you may want to submit early. (Don’t eat turkey leftovers that far out that’s not good for you.) This newsletter will cover until Sunday, January 1. January! Yikes!

Advent begins November 27. Every year the Revised Common Lectionary releases Advent daily prayers for reflection. If you would like to download all of the at one visit here: https://lectionary.library.vanderbilt.edu/

Advent is a “hurry up and wait” season. We’re called to prepare our hearts while also being patient. That can be difficult, and in our constant planning, we don’t leave space to embrace the mystery of God and the unimaginable surprises that come with it. Dive into these Advent resources to view the Book of Isaiah through the lens of surprise as we wait for Christ.
This resource utilizes the four weeks of Advent lectionary texts from the book of Isaiah. Dual themes of surprise and anti-oppression create the lens by which the truths of the Isaiah texts are contextualized into our contemporary longings for God. Each week includes sermon starters and a children’s sermon-ette.
