Dear Church Family and Friends,

Please join us for our Sunday worship service with Reverend Doctor David Pierce and his sermon titled God’s Box of Crayons.
Our liturgist Arnie Johnson will share our scriptures Psalm 27:1,4-9 and I Corinthians 1:10-18.
Our hymns will include The Church’s One Foundation, Help Us Accept Each Other, and Blest Be the Tie That Binds.
Our bulletin is available here: https://www.peterboroughumc.org/unday-january-26-2020-pumc-order-worship/

The Forgotten God bible study is being held on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 10 am.
Forgotten God: “A follow up to the profound message of Crazy Love, Pastor Francis Chan offers a compelling invitation to understand, embrace, and follow the Holy Spirit’s direction in our lives.
In the name of the Father, the Son, and … the Holy Spirit. We pray in the name of all three, but how often do we live with an awareness of only the first two? As Jesus ascended into heaven, He promised to send the Holy Spirit—the Helper—so that we could be true and living witnesses for Christ. Unfortunately, today’s church has admired the gift but neglected to open it.
Breakthrough author Francis Chan rips away paper and bows to get at the true source of the church’s power—the Holy Spirit. Chan contends that we’ve ignored the Spirit for far too long, and we are reaping the disastrous results. Thorough scriptural support and compelling narrative form Chan’s invitation to stop and remember the One we’ve forgotten, the Spirit of the living God.”

“Lent for Everyone: Matthew, Year A provides readers with an inspirational guide through the Lenten season, from Ash Wednesday through the week after Easter. Popular biblical scholar and author N. T. Wright provides his own Scripture translation, brief reflection, and a prayer for each day of the season, helping readers ponder how the text is relevant to their own lives. By the end of the book, readers will have been through the entirety of Matthew, along with Psalm readings for each Sunday. Suitable for both individual and group study and reflection, Wright’s Lenten devotional will help make Matthew’s gospel your own, thoughtfully and prayerfully, and your journey through Lent a period of discovery and growth.”

There are sign up sheets in the fellowship hall for both bible studies.
If you would like to do either study online please email Rev Card.

Fellowship Hosts are needed for January 26th, February 9th, 16th, and 23rd. If you can help with this ministry, please get your name on the sign-up sheet aa soon as possible. Many thanks! Worship team will make sure the fridge is stocked with juices, half&half, and cheese. The cupboards will have coffee and tea and crackers and cookies. You can round things out as much or as little as you wish. If you would like a quick tutorial on kitchen appliances and coffee makers, let Susan Lindquist or Amy Glimet know and they will meet you for a quick heads-up.
Many thanks!

Please consider bringing in food items and paper goods for donation to the Rindge Food Pantry. Collections are taken each Sunday and the food is delivered when the basket is overflowing. The offering basket is near the piano, as you enter our church sanctuary.
After Christmas is a lean time of year for many food-challenged folk. Heating bills and post-Christmas bills come due. Food often gets short shrift. Helping to round out a family’s pantry can be a huge help! Every can and box helps!

HUNDRED NIGHTS WEEKEND DINNER – Saturday, February 22nd –
The next weekend meal for guests at Hundred Nights Cold Weather Shelter and Drop-In Center will be themed around hot crock pot stews and warm breads. If you would like to help with this ministry, please look for the sign-up sheet on the fellowship hall kitchen bulletin board! If you have questions about cooking, providing paper goods or serving, just grab Susan Lindquist and she’ll get you up to speed!
Many thanks!
