UNITED METHODIST WOMEN’S PROJECT – Quick Exit Bags and Supplies
There are still a few post -it notes available for anyone wishing to help out on the latest round of quick exit bags for children. The UMW is collecting supplies and will plan to assemble the bags early in March. The group will deliver the bags to The Monadnock Center for Violence Prevention as soon as they’re assembled.
If you would like to help sew more bags, there will be a basket of fabric, ribbons, and bias tape for casings plus sewing instructions available on Sunday, February 16th. Look for the fabric basket by the donation box for supplies on the table near the church office entrance.
Many thanks for all the help on this project!

ASH WEDNESDAY AND LENTEN PLANS
The worship committee met on Sunday, February 9th to begin making plans for this year’s Lenten season. There will be so much going on this season that the committee is getting going on the first few services and activities.
The church will host an Open Sanctuary on Ash Wednesday so that any and all can come to pray and contemplate our mortality and the lives we lead for God, Christ, and the Holy Spirit.
Ashes will be dispensed to any wishing it. The worship committee would like to have someone present in the sanctuary with Rev Kathleene to welcome the community, answer questions, and provide support throughout the day. If you would like to give an hour of your time to help with this ministry of hospitality, please contact Rev Kathleene or someone on the worship committee.
On Ash Wednesday evening, the first of the Wednesday Lenten Soup and Salad Suppers will be held in the fellowship room. A simple meal will be served buffet-style and will include a short devotional and grace at 5:30 PM with continual serving though 6:45 PM. An Ash Wednesday worship service will be held at 7 PM to honor the first day of the Lenten season.
Theologian Maggi Dawn wrote about the solemnity of the words, “you are dust and unto dust you shall return.” She thought they were a good reminder of the lives we’ve been called to live. She said, “When we look our mortality in the face, the inevitability of our own death asks of us, ‘What are you going to do with the life you have?’
